Vidya Balan’s ‘aesthetic’ item song!

After Vidya Balan painted the silver screen ‘dirty’ with her ‘Ooh La La’, speculations ran wild as to what her next foot-tapping number would be. And then came the announcement from the Vidhu Vinod Chopra camp that she would be seen shaking her bootylicious booty to an item number in the film ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’.

Ever since the announcement was made, Vidhu, Vidya, and their item number have constantly been in the limelight. Add to that the fact that the song is a ‘lavani’, which has very recently been seen in ‘Chikni Chameli’ makes it heady cocktail of desi latkas and jhatkas!

However, the makers of the song have stressed that Vidya’s ‘lavani ‘will be different. According to reports, the song will have more of an aesthetic edge and the oomph factor will be a bit watered.

“After trying almost nine different looks, Vidya Balan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajesh Mapuskar chose the Lavani form. However, everyone is extremely conscious that this would be more aesthetic and less sexy Lavani. More importantly authenticity towards the dance form will be maintained,” adds a source from the production team of the film.

The director Rajesh Mapuskar says, “Finally we have short-listed Lavani and are looking forward to the item song. Vidya Balan is extremely excited and would be rehearsing extensively for three weeks for the song.”

In spite of Katrina’s ‘Chikni Chameli’ taking the entire country by storm, the director is not insecure about the comparison that will be made between the two songs. Instead, he feels that the hit number from ‘Agneepath’ is acting as an inspiration. Says Mapuskar, “Katrina`s dance is inspiring us to do better.”

Once Vidya is groomed to sway to the beats of the lavani, she would be working on getting the finer nuances of the dance form. And for this, according to the director, she would require about three weeks. Let’s wait then for Vidya’s ‘aesthetic’ jhatkas!
