Veteran artist Kamal Haasan turns 57

Legendary artist Kamal Haasan turned 57 today. The actor, who happens to be the only celebrity to have turned his fan club into a social service centre, had earlier pledged to donate his organs to medical students for research.

The veteran began his film career as a child artist in `Kaluthur Kannamma` won the National Award for Best Child Artist in 1960. He is the only actor to have won three National Awards for Best Actor.

The actor is as huge as his Tamil contemporary and good friend Rajinikanth. He is also a philanthropist who takes active part in a lot of social welfare activities.

Kamal has acted in Hindi films `Ek Duje Ke Liye`, `Sadma`, `Ek Nai Paheli`, `Chachi 420` , `Hey Ram` to name a few. He is a multi-linguist who has acted in Tamil, Tegelu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

He is one of those artists who dare to think out of the box and come up with bold subjects that call for severe criticism.
But his performance alone can silence his critics.

Here’s wishing the living legend a very Happy Birthday.
