I’m not remaking ‘Aashiqui’: Bhandarkar

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has clarified he is not working on a remake of 1990 hit romantic film ‘Aashiqui’, and says work on the sequel to ‘Fashion’ might get underway 2012.

Meanwhile, work on his most ambitious project, ‘Heroine’, starts November-end.

"Let me clarify, I am not making ‘Aashiqui’ remake. ‘Fashion 2’ is under consideration for 2012 end but nothing has been finalised yet!" Bhandarkar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"‘Heroine’ principal photography to commence from end Nov!" he added.

There has been a spate of speculation over Bhandarkar`s upcoming projects.

In September, it was reported that Bhandarkar had been asked by T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar to remake the superhit that starred Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal. The other buzz was about Bhandarkar`s ‘Fashion 2’, for which he is rumoured to have approached Madhuri Dixit, who is back from the US to Mumbai for good.

But for now, the filmmaker is looking forward to working with Kareena Kapoor on ‘Heroine’. The project was supposed to star Aishwarya Rai, but she was replaced after she announced her pregnancy.
